Whether you are new to the practice or a seasoned yogi, private lessons can be a great way to experience your yoga. Maybe there is an injury or condition you are working around that requires some extra care and adjustments; maybe you are looking for some direct guidance in your practice; maybe the studio setting is overwhelming; maybe you and your loved ones want to practice together for a special occasion. Whatever the case may be, I would love to facilitate!
Trauma-Informed YogaYoga draws us inward, which can be triggering for those who have experienced any form of trauma – and most of us have. To quote Hala Khouri of Yoga Works, “Everyone has experienced some sort of trauma, big or small, as well as general stress, and both can impact our ability to self-regulate (to feel safe, grounded and present).” To teach in a trauma informed way means to be aware and respectful of students’ space, history and experience. It means creating a safe zone in which one can process what may come up as we dive deeper. I work as a volunteer for Yoga for All Movement, a budding non-profit bringing yoga to under-represented populations in Santa Cruz County and the Central Coast. They introduced me to the importance of trauma-informed yoga and gave me the opportunity to reach those who need it most. Their mission to make yoga accessible to all – regardless of age, experience, or ability – is inspiring and lights up my heart.
